The award winning Nysmith School is located on 13 acres in Herndon, Virginia, minutes from Dulles Airport. Established in 1983 by Carole Nysmith, the school currently serves over 580 students from three years old through 8th grade.
The Nysmith School is committed to nurturing each student’s love of learning and helping children learn to their potential. The 1:9 teacher to student ratio allows us to diversify the academic program and help each child succeed.
The children’s daily curriculum includes diversified reading and math classes, hands on science, technology, foreign language, social studies, logic, and much more. Reading and math classes are diversified up to four grade levels above grade.
The Nysmith School minimizes repetition in school as well as homework. “Children who understand concepts quickly do not need lots of repetition.” says Principal Ken Nysmith. “Our philosophy is to teach concepts through projects and discussion to develop a deeper understanding and love for the subject.”
In 2015 Nysmith was named one of the 10 Top Schools In The World by Johns Hopkins University CTY Talent Search.
