There may be no place better suited to a wintry night than Jeremiah Langhorne’s Shaw dining room. And it’s not just the white-oak-and-brick space, with its embers crackling in the hearth. It’s grace notes like the cup of warming, spruce-scented broth you’re handed along the walk to the table. You can dine à la carte at the bar, but the main draw is the eight-course tasting, where Langhorne will blow your mind not with dollops of caviar but with a simple parsnip, caramelized and made extraordinary with beurre blanc and grapefruit. There’s luxury, too: Foie gras parfait comes alongside a skillet of sweet-potato rolls, the bar mixes some of the most elegant martinis in town, and you’re sent off with a lovely pawpaw financier for the next morning.
