The 1951 film An American in Paris—starring Gene Kelly and Leslie Caron, with music by George and Ira Gershwin—is known for its fabulous dancing. When it was adapted for Broadway a few years ago, ballet choreographer Christopher Wheeldon came aboard to direct. The fleet-footed result, now hitting DC for a limited run, ended up winning four Tony Awards.
