In 2017, Claire Cottrill’s bedroom-pop bop “Pretty Girl” went viral right before her freshman year of college. By the start of sophomore year, the singer, who performs as Clairo, was on tour. She’s had a quick rise, but her ruminative debut LP, Immunity, released earlier this year, sounds like a songwriter taking her time. It’s great live, too: Between understated synths and inner-monologue lyrics, Cottrill still finds room to rock out.
