Adapted from Julia Alvarez’s 1994 historical-fiction novel, In the Time of the Butterflies, this play by Caridad Svich is inspired by real-life revolutionaries. It’s the story of three sisters who, after dying in a highly suspicious accident in 1960, become powerful symbols of resistance against the Dominican Republic’s brutal Trujillo dictatorship.
