Freedom Forum Free Expression Awards
April 28 at 6:00 pm - 10:30 pm
$225-700
Celebrate champions of free and fearless expression at the 2022 Free Expression Awards!
Join the Freedom Forum to celebrate individual contributions to freedoms of religion, speech, press, assembly and petition.
The First Amendment champions honored this year have dedicated themselves to uplift, amplify and advocate. This distinguished group of advocates, activists, scholars and speakers has tirelessly exercised their freedoms to support the rights of others.
You’ll be inspired by First Amendment hero Alberto Ibargüen, president and CEO of the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, who will receive the evening’s foremost honor, the Al Neuharth Award for Excellence in the Media.
Additional honorees include:
Eric Treene, former Special Counsel for Religious Discrimination in the Department of Justice Civil Rights Division.
Nikole Hannah-Jones, Knight Chair in Race and Journalism and founder of the Center for Journalism and Democracy at Howard University.
The leaders of Stop AAPI Hate: Cynthia Choi, co-executive director of Chinese for Affirmative Action; Russell Jeung, professor at San Francisco State University and Manjusha P. Kulkarni, executive director of the AAPI Equity Alliance.
Be in the room where it happens at The Anthem in Washington, D.C., or tune in virtually for an inspiring evening hosted by Jonathan Capehart, Washington Post columnist and MSNBC anchor.
Ticket proceeds support education and advocacy to empower all Americans to know, understand, value and defend the freedoms of religion, speech, press, assembly and petition.
The Freedom Forum is a nonpartisan 501(c)(3) foundation dedicated to fostering First Amendment freedoms for all. It works to raise awareness of First Amendment freedoms through education, advocacy and action.
