Made in Hong Kong Film Festival: Zombiology: Enjoy Yourself Tonight
In person: Alan Lo, director; Venus Wong, actress
Fans of last year’s Vampire Cleanup Department will want to check out this comedic riff on the zombie pop-culture craze. Inspired by a cult novel and adapted from director Alan Lo’s short film, it sets a pack of ne’er-do-wells and slackers against hordes of hungry undead, created by a giant stuffed chicken whose eggs cause people’s head to explode. “Filled with likable characters and leavened by an irresistible sense of comic fun, the film is a very promising feature debut for director Alan Lo, and an altogether charming experience for audiences” (Peter Martin, Screen Anarchy). (Dir.: Alan Lo, Hong Kong, 2017, 107 min., DCP, Cantonese with Chinese and English subtitles)
