Made in Hong Kong Film Festival: Legendary Weapons of Kung Fu
Featuring a live hip-hop score by DJ 2-Tone Jones of Shaolin Jazz
DC’s own Shaolin Jazz brings its popular Can I Kick It? series to the Meyer Auditorium. Legendary Weapons of Kung Fu, a cult classic Shaw Brothers film, will be accompanied by a score blending hip-hop, soul, funk, and more, mixed live by Shaolin Jazz cofounder DJ 2-Tone Jones. The result is a new soundtrack that accentuates specific scenes and fight sequences. Set during the Boxer Rebellion, Legendary Weapons of Kung Fu is the story of a secret sect of martial artists who train their students to be impervious to bullets. (Dir.: Lau Kar-leung, Hong Kong, 1982, 109 min., DCP, Cantonese with English subtitles)
