Showcasing Washington National Opera’s Domingo-Cafritz Young Artists and
George Mason University’s Opera and Vocal Studies Program
Hylton Performing Arts Center
Sunday, April 7 at 4 p.m.
Some of the best young voices in the nation come to our region to perfect their art and craft. The Washington National Opera’s Domingo-Cafritz Young Artist Program auditions hundreds of postgraduate, emerging professional singers for a coveted few positions every year. Domingo-Cafritz alumni are singing with the major opera houses around the world. Closer to home, Mason’s Opera and Vocal Studies program provides high-caliber academic study for outstanding undergraduate and graduate students from around the country and internationally. “Raising Voices” marks the beginning of an innovative partnership between these two important programs, distinctly different but both dedicated to the support and growth of the young opera singer in America. Join us for a thrilling program of opera, operetta, musical theater arias, ensembles, and scenes that showcase the breathtaking scope and talent of these young artists in the beautiful (and acoustically brilliant) Merchant Hall as they prepare to blossom on the international stage.
