Now that kids are settled back into the school routine, is anyone else feeling like all you are doing is schlepping the kids from one activity to another? Why should our kids have all the fun?

We moms need girls’ nights out to reconnect with our friends, laugh, and decompress. I found myself enjoying a glass of wine and painting a masterpiece last week with some friends. Okay, so the masterpiece was not so masterful, but it was sure fun painting with some of my favorite gal pals. So whether it’s a little cocktail hour and painting or getting dirty with clay, check out these businesses that not only have awesome kids classes and camps, but have great offerings for adults, too.

Fairfax’s Jimmy Potters Studios offers a Ladies Night Out on Thursdays, no better way to kick off the weekend a little early. As Jimmy says, “No Kids, No Men and No Worries!” Girlfriends, snacks, and vino—and you have an instant party. Even better, you can create something for yourself or your friends. Be sure to also check out Jimmy’s TRY-IT, Date Night and Pinot & Pottery Nights.

Ready to get in shape with a killer kickboxing work out while having some me time? Kicks Karate with locations in Glen Echo, MD; Bethesda, MD; Clarksburg, MD, Frederick North, MD, Frederick (Westview), MD; Gaithersburg, MD; Germantown, MD; North Potomac, MD; Poolesville, MD; Potomac, MD; Rockville, MD; and Urbana, MD has adult classes in the early morning, mid-day, and evening during the week and on weekends. Want a girls outing where you can punch your way to clarity? Check out the one closest to you for schedules.

Or grab your gal pals and get your Michael Jackson on at Joy of Motion Dance Center where you can learn the entire Thriller routine on Halloween. Other cool workshops teaching flamenco, Irish dance, or hip hop will give you and your posse a night out to remember. Try a drop in class to learn the latest dance crazes like Zoca (South African dance), Barre, Zumba, and ASA (an upbeat workout fusing “club” dance movements of west, central, east and southern Africa).

Check out my personal favorite—Rockville’s VisArts, which offers art parties for adults and is perfect for a girls or adults night out! Let your inner artist take flight with so many options to try, including painting, fused glass plates, clay on the wheel or from scratch, mosaic-stained mirrors, and more. My friends and I painted a DaVinci inspired tree while enjoying cocktails, delicious crab cakes, and yummy chicken satay on a school night.
