A convention center hotel, the Grand Hyatt is laid out like a courtyard, with its 12 floors of rooms facing the center atrium. The feel is of an upscale mall, with three dining options, two shops, and two lower floors of convention space. You don’t have to go outside to access the Metro Center subway station below or the FIT Health Club ($10 for hotel guests, although the pool is free).
The bright atrium is nicely decorated with shrubbery and sculptures, and bridges connect platforms that overlook blue pools below. Guests can sit by these pools of water when eating at the Grand Cafe. The newest of the dining options, Cure Bar and Bistro, stacks its seating levels downwards in varied woods and angles. Eatery choices also include the Grand Slam sports bar, a Starbucks, and Zephyr Bar next door (but with access through the lobby).
The simply-decorated rooms have a rich, brown palette. On each floor, one side of rooms look in towards the atrium, the other rooms, out toward the street. A grand suite is on each floor, in addition to three themed suites on the top level. Regardless of the room you are in, guests can pay an additional $60 a day to join the Grand Club to receive free breakfasts, snacks, access to the private lounge, and complimentary passes to FIT Health Club during their stay.
Room amenities include 42-inch flat panel TV, iHome stereo, Plush Grand Bed, hair dryer, coffee maker, turndown and wake-up calls upon request, crib or rollaway upon request, Herman Miller office chair and work desk, iron/ironing board, individual climate control, voicemail, cordless telephones, video account review, video check-out, in-room dining, and safe deposit boxes at front desk.
Among other amenities: Concierge desk and e-concierge, FIT Health Club includes steam rooms, a sauna, swimming pool, circuit training and cardiovascular machines, massage services, personal trainers, and exercise classes.
