Hotel Rouge

Editor's Pick: Trendy

All Kimpton hotels “tell a story,” and Hotel Rouge tells one that is, well, red. The color scheme, meant to convey passion, is in every last detail: from a vintage-styled, red-walled lobby with white leather seating to meeting rooms with names such as “Lava” and “Red Hot.”

All things red continues into the bedrooms, where there’s red leather headboards and optional red mood lighting. Guests can request three different room types other than the standard—Chills, Chats, or Chows. Chats have more desk area. Chows come with kitchenettes. Chill rooms are bigger and great for families, with an extra TV, sitting area, and choice of Playstation or Wii.

Bar Rouge, off the lobby, serves American fare for breakfast and dinner, as well as drinks. There’s a Red Hot Happy hour from 5 to 7 pm on weekdays. The bar isn’t that roomy, but it extends across a back hallway to a curtained bar addition, called the Dark Room, which offers more privacy and can be reserved for private parties.

As at other Kimpton hotels, some food is included in the room rate: a buffet breakfast, weekday “Red Wine Hours,” hot chocolate, and a weekend brunch hour of cold pizza and Bloody Marys.
