Where to Celebrate Galentine’s Day With Your Friends Around DC

Spend time with your besties at craft classes, mimosa brunches, a murder-mystery night, and more.

Valentine’s Day isn’t limited to just romantic love. Beyond the candy hearts and Cupid arrows, February is also an opportunity to celebrate friendship, and places around DC are organizing fun Galentine’s Day events to attend with your pals.

 

Flower arranging at Jungle & Loom

When: February 9 at 6:30 PM; February 13 at 6:30 PM
Where: 1309 5th St., NE
Sip a cocktail and learn how to take your blooms to the next level in this flower-arranging class at Union Market. The $85 ticket includes a drink, floral materials, and a ceramic or glass vase to take home your bouquet.  

 

Galentine’s Day brunch at Ìpàdé

When: February 10 from 11 AM to 3 PM
Where: 1734 20th St., NW
This Galentine’s Day brunch at the Kalorama meeting space is organized by the Black Girl Health Collective. The event features mimosas, French toast, and stations with different things to do such as fan designing and an affirmations activity. Tickets are $50.  

 

Murder-mystery dinner at Maggiano’s 

When: February 11 from 6:30 to 10 PM
Where: 5333 Wisconsin Ave., NW
What says friendship more than solving mysteries in matching trench coats? Transport yourself to a classic whodunit and investigate a murder mystery with your friends at the Italian restaurant. (Trench coats are not provided, but costumes are always a fun option.) The $95 ticket includes a three-course dinner and one glass of beer or wine. 

 

Cocktail-making class at Bouqeria

When: Tuesday, February 13 at 6:30 PM
Where: 1837 M St., NW 
Put on your mixologist hat for this $65 cocktail-making course where attendees learn how to make two of the restaurant’s seasonal drinks. Tapas will be available for snacking.

 

Cookie decorating at Three Littles

When: Tuesday, February 13 from 6 to 9 PM
Where: 1260 4th St., NE
Parents can enjoy the holiday, too, at the children’s store near Union Market. Drink rosé while decorating a cookie; both are covered by the $30 ticket. Kids are welcome but must be supervised. 

 

Calligraphy lesson at Hotel Washington

When: Tuesday, February 13 from 6:30 to 8 PM
Where: 515 15th St., NW
Fans of the lost art of letter writing can learn calligraphy during this class led by Sip & Script at the downtown hotel. The $70 ticket covers the lesson plus a beginners calligraphy kit to take home. 

 

Terrarium workshop at PlantHouse

When: Tuesday, February 13 from 6:30 to 8 PM
Where: 921 North Saint Asaph St., Alexandria
Go green for Galentine’s Day at this terrarium-building workshop in the plant shop’s Alexandria location and create a new piece of home decor. Tickets range from $30 to $40 depending on whether you’re making a six- or eight-inch terrarium. 

 

Card making at Shop Made in DC 

When: Wednesday, February 14 from 6 to 8 PM 
Where: 1304 Wisconsin Ave., NW 
Get crafty at a card-making workshop that uses magazine clippings and paint pens to create three mixed-media cards. The $55 class takes place at Shop Made in DC’s Georgetown location. 

 

Paint brunch at the Morrow Hotel

When: Saturday, February 17 from 11 AM to 1 PM/span>
Where: 222 M St., NE
Express your artistic side at this Galentine’s brunch and paint session in the NoMa hotel. The $75 ticket includes a buffet, mimosas, and art supplies for your masterpiece. 

 

Crafting at J Studio

When: Sunday, February 18 from 2 to 4 PM 
Where: 52 O St., NW 
For more artsy pursuits, head to the Truxton Circle studio for a $40 crafting session with access to acrylic and watercolor paint, oil pastels, colored pencils, and more.  Attendees are encouraged to dress in a combination of red and purple, pink, or black.
