Where to Buy Thanksgiving Pies and Desserts Around DC

Bakeries are offering myriad spins on pumpkin and apple desserts, plus breads and breakfast treats, during Thanksgiving week.

From traditional bourbon pecan pies to creative confections like dirty chai tiramisu, these local bakeries and restaurants have your Thanksgiving dessert table covered.

 

Acme Pie Co.

2406 Columbia Pike, Arlington

This Arlington pie shop is taking orders for six varieties of 10-inch pies ($34 each), including apple, apple/cranberry, mixed berry, pecan/chocolate/maple, pumpkin with candied ginger, and sweet potato. Order online and pickup from Saturday, November 22 to Monday, November 24. Any remaining pies will be available for walk-in purchase on Wednesday, November 26, until 6 PM.

 

Bayou Bakery

1515 N. Courthouse Rd., Arlington

David Guas’s Louisiana-inspired Courthouse bakeshop is serving up several seasonal pies ($23 to $28.50 each). On the classic side, there’s apple/cinnamon crunch, roasted sweet potato, lemon chess, and pecan. Creative takes include bacon/cayenne pecan and Virginia peanut. Orders must be placed at least 48 hours in advance and no later than noon on Monday, November 24. A limited number of pies will be available for walk-ins Monday through Wednesday during the week of Thanksgiving. Plus, for every dozen pies sold, one will be donated to PathForward, the Arlington nonprofit supporting people experiencing homelessness.

 

BlackSalt

4883 MacArthur Blvd., NW

At this Palisades seafood market/restaurant, pick up pies like Kentucky Derby (bourbon, walnuts, and chocolate, $40), apple streusel ($34), pecan ($37), pumpkin ($34), and key lime ($36). Orders are due by 3 PM on Thursday, November 20. Pickup is on Wednesday, November 26 by 6 PM. Call 202-342-9104 to order.

 

Bread Furst

4434 Connecticut Ave., NW

This popular Van Ness bakery keeps things classic with apple, bourbon-pecan, and pumpkin pies ($37.50 each). Cakes ($52.65 each), including devil’s food, carrot, and raspberry/lemon chiffon are also available. While pre-orders have closed, the desserts will be available on a walk-in basis during Thanksgiving week.

 

Centrolina

974 Palmer Alley, NW

CityCenterDC’s Italian market and dining room has festive desserts like gluten-free apple-caramel cake ($55); pumpkin pie with meringue ($50); lemon meringue pie ($50); and dirty chai tiramisu ($50). Order online by Sunday, November 23 at 11:45 PM. Pickup is on Wednesday, November 26, from 4:30 to 8 PM, or Thursday, November 27, from 10 AM to 1 PM.

 

Colada Shop

These Cuban cafes are adding a tropical twist to the holiday table with dulce de leche/pumpkin and apple/guava pies ($45 each). Pre-orders are open through Monday, November 24, with pickup on Wednesday, November 26, at all area locations. 

 

Duck & the Peach

300 Seventh St., SE

This modern American restaurant on the Hill is offering a caramel-apple cake ($45) and chocolate/pecan pie ($55), plus pints of freshly made vanilla ice cream ($15). Orders are available for pickup between 11 AM and 6:45 PM on Wednesday, November 26.

 

Elle

3221 Mt. Pleasant St., NW

The Mount Pleasant bakery/cafe/restaurant’s holiday menu includes pies ($40 to $45) in flavors like chocolate/bourbon, pumpkin, and apple with almond oat topping. There’s also honey goat cheesecake ($40)—one of the place’s most popular desserts—and a variety of breads and rolls. Order by noon on Friday, November 21. Pickup is Wednesday, November 26, between 10 AM and 3 PM.

 

Livin’ the Pie Life

2166 N. Glebe Rd., Arlington

Thanksgiving pre-orders are sold out, but this bakery will have pies available for walk-in customers Wednesday, November 19 through Saturday, November 22. Each week’s offerings vary, though past flavors have included pumpkin/ praline, pecan, salted-caramel/chocolate chess, and tart-cherry crumb. The final Thanksgiving pie sale is Wednesday, November 26, beginning at 3 PM. Lines typically form early, and pies are sold on a first-come basis until 5 PM.

 

Pie Gourmet

507 Maple Ave. W., Vienna

This Vienna institution is offering a wide array of sweet, fruit, and savory pies ($27.95 to $29.95 each), including apple, pumpkin, sweet potato, pecan, blackberry/peach, apple/cranberry, and potato/bacon. There are several cream pies, too, including banana, chocolate, coconut, and key lime. Order by Wednesday, November 19 for pickup Sunday, November 23 through Wednesday, November 26.

 

Red Truck Bakery

These twin bakeries, known for nostalgic southern sweets, will offer an array of pies ($45 to $60): mincemeat, sweet potato, bourbon-pecan, caramel-apple, heirloom Dutch apple, pumpkin, and Virginia peanut. Order online by 8 AM Friday, November 21, for pickup Monday, November 24 to Wednesday, November 26 until 3 PM.

Georgetown’s decades-old dining room is offering 9-inch pies—including apple crumb, pecan, and pumpkin—for $35 each. Place orders by 5 PM on Sunday, November 23. Pickup is on Wednesday, November 26, from 2 to 5 PM at Fitzgerald’s next door.

 

Seylou

926 N St., NW 

The Shaw bakery’s whole-grain pies made with house-milled flour include apple or squash ($46) and pecan ($49). You can also pick up cornbread ($32), dinner rolls ($26 per dozen), and doughnut packs ($23). Order by 7 PM on Saturday, November 22 for pickup Tuesday, November 25 through Thursday, November 27.

 

1310 Kitchen & Bar

1310 Wisconsin Ave., NW

This Georgetown restaurant is featuring vegetable and chicken pot pies to bake at home ($22 to $60, depending on size) and an apple crumb pie ($32). Pickup is on Wednesday, November 26 or on Thanksgiving day.

Union Market (417 Morse St., NE) and Georgetown (1524 Wisconsin Ave., NW)

Michael Rafidi’s Levantine bakery/cafes are offering Middle Eastern-inspired holiday treats like apple pie with tahini caramel ($42); honey/pecan pie with ras el hanout ($48); chai/pumpkin pie ($45); and date-and-labne coffee cake ($40). Savory options include za’atar parker house rolls ($12) and sesame sourdough ($12). Pre-orders are open and pickup at both locations is on Wednesday, November 26, from 9 AM to noon.
