Wendy J. Hookman, MD, is a double board-certified psychiatrist and the Founder and Director of WCWCW, serving women and children of all ages living in Bethesda, Maryland, and throughout Montgomery County, and the Greater Washington area.

Dr. Hookman brings more than 20 years of experience to WCWCW. She earned her medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, Virginia, and completed her psychiatry training at the Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City.

As a reproductive psychiatrist, Dr. Hookman has special interests in treating women’s mood and anxiety disorders in general and especially as they relate to menopause, pregnancy, and infertility.

She regularly works with individuals to treat various conditions, including premenstrual dysphoric disorder and postpartum depression. Dr. Hookman also offers psychopharmacology during pregnancy.

Dr. Hookman addresses the whole person and takes into consideration all aspects of the woman’s life including her past and present experiences, lifestyle and relationships in order to create an individualized treatment plan.She has significant experience and truly enjoys working with diverse individuals of different races, ethnicities, religions, and sexual orientations.

Dr. Hookman is the former Director of the Women’s Mood Disorders Program at Georgetown University Hospital (MedStar Georgetown University Hospital) in Washington, D.C. and she is on the teaching faculty of The George Washington University School of Medicine (GW School of Medicine and Health Sciences).
