SHOP: Spring cleaning your kid’s closet is great, but sometimes that means it’s time to restock. Refill your little one’s closet with cute threads at the Wee Sale, a giant consignment sale running throughout the weekend that is filled to the gills with seasonal clothes, toys, car seats, and more! 9 AM to 7 PM, free.
LISTEN: The Alliance Francaise hosts a one-day camp for kids ages six to 11 that pairs music with the French language. The day camp is conducted entirely in French (but your little one doesn’t have to be fluent), and kids will get an intro into the basic concepts of rhythm, tempo, and pitch. 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM, $75.
SATURDAY, APRIL 18
LEARN: Give your number nut something to celebrate at the National Math Festival, which will be held at the National Mall. From lectures and mathematician meet and greets to magic shows and hands-on games, there’s something to square root for everyone. 10 AM to 4 PM, free.
OOH AND AHH: Little (and big) sneaker heads will be head over heels in love at this massive sneaker event. At Sneaker Con, held at the DC Armory, expect over 250 vendors, and the opportunity to buy, sell and trade kicks in all shapes and sizes. 12 to 7 PM, free.
SUNDAY, APRIL 19
WATCH: The Princess and the Pea gets a unique adaptation in this Virginia Opera production that teams short opera with a tot-friendly vibe. Will the princess feel the pea under her stack of mattresses? Let your little one find out for herself. 2 to 3 PM.
FLOAT: Boating season gets a fun, family-friendly kick-off at the Bay Bridge Boat Show in Annapolis. In addition to hundreds of boats in all shapes and sizes, there will be face painting, moon bounces, fly fishing and casting lessons, and chef classes. $12; free for kids under 12.
