SING: Practice the language of love, preschool-style, at Nous Bloomons en Francais at Bloombars. The gathering, for three to six year olds and their families, features songs and dancing sessions meant to introduce francophiles (or busy bodies in general) to French language and culture. 5:30 PM, $7 suggested donation.
MODEL: SoCozy, a hair care line for kids, is hosting a model search for your well-coiffed little ones. Swing by Bethesda’s Make Meaning, where kids will be styled by the SoCozy team and have their picture taken by a professional photographer for feature consideration in the brand’s back-to-school campaign. 2 to 5 PM, free.
SATURDAY, APRIL 25
TOUR: Talk about “flower power!” White House visitors get a peek at the petals blooming in the Jacqueline Kennedy Garden, Rose Garden, Children’s Garden, White House Kitchen Garden, and South Lawn. While all ages are welcome, strollers and cameras should be left at home.10 AM, free.
CELEBRATE: If kiddo always prefers candy bars over cantaloupe, stop by one of the YMCA of Metropolitan Washington’s 13 event locations to celebrate Healthy Kids Day. Healthy habits are reinforced through fun games, active play, and interactive lessons for kids of all ages. All day, free.
LOUNGE: Potomac Mills’ play area gets a springtime makeover with poppies, white couches, and green bean bags. Bring cabin fevered kids by for sweets and treats, a bunch of giveaways and a selfie station. 10 AM to 11:30 AM, free.
SUNDAY, APRIL 26
BROWSE: Kiddie décor store Land of Nod transformed their tour bus into a bookmobile, filled to the brim with Little Golden Books (think: The Poky Little Puppy) available for purchase. After picking out your tiny tomes, stick around for story time and crafts, and then a blueberry muffin breakfast (the bus will be parked in front of Uprising Muffin Company. 8 to 9:30 AM, free.
IMAGINE: The Wonderful Wizard of Oz comes to life on stage in this Adventure Theater road production. The usual suspects—Scarecrow, Tin Man and the Cowardly Lion—will be there to make you laugh all the way down the yellow brick road.
