When chef/owner Art Smith worked as Oprah’s chef, her BFF Gayle King fell hard for his lemon-yogurt pancakes—and they’re indeed a terrific way to start the day. Other excellent options at his early-rising dining room in the shadow of the Capitol include a breakfast sandwich with sharp cheddar and sweet-salty maple bacon and—for lighter appetites—a fruit parfait with Greek yogurt and local honey. Monday through Friday 6:30 to 10:30 am, Saturday and Sunday 7:30 to 3:30.
