Tucked away off the lobby of an Adams Morgan apartment building, members-only Méli is the supper club we wish we lived above. (Anyone can join—buying a $25 bottle of house wine makes you a member, and profits are donated to community organizations.) Once inside, you’re rewarded with Danya Degen’s Greek-wine picks, which are as fun as their menu descriptions—think “Sauvy B, but make it richer.” Pair them with an array of hot and cold mezze, such as red-pepper-and-feta htipiti dip served alongside crackly pita chips. The kitchen excels at frying: Falafel and crispy potatoes are musts. Round out the spread with a bright, herbaceous cabbage salad and za’atar-spiced roasted cauliflower.
