Think of Ashok Bajaj’s high-style Indian restaurants as fraternal twins. Both places have spot-on cocktails. Both offer signature plates such as palak chaat—a swoon-worthy creation of fried spinach, yogurt, and date chutney—plus delicately spiced black cod with star anise, tawa-griddled eggplant with peanut sauce, and gingery tandoori lamb chops. But there’s individuality, too—on the menus and in the vibe. The West End address has a roomy patio and a lively, color-splashed dining room, while Penn Quarter exudes romance with moody lighting and glimmering glass and metal accents.
