Things to Do

Where & When: This Week in Washington Nightlife

What to do this week for fun!

Monday: Evan Dando at Iota
Remember the Lemonheads? If you listened to the radio at all in the '90s, you probably remember their tunes like "It's a Shame About Ray" and "Into Your Arms." Well, Evan Dando, the former lead singer, has been doing the solo thing for a while now, and tonight he stops by Iota. Local crooner Vandaveer opens. 8:30 PM; $20.

Tuesday: Kennedy Center Messiah Sing-Along
It's one of Washington's most popular holiday events—and it's open to all, and even better, free! It's the Kennedy Center Messiah Sing-Along, where anyone from the public can sing along to Handel's Messiah alongside the Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra. Tickets will be distributed beginning at 6 PM tonight in front of the Concert Hall; one ticket per person. The performance is at 8 PM.

Wednesday: Matzo Ball!
They claim it's the "party that started a holiday revolution." We're not sure about that, but we know that for those looking for something to occupy themselves on Christmas Eve, the Matzo Ball is a fun choice. This year the festivities are hosted at Ultrabar. Get your tickets for $30; fun starts at 9 PM.

Thursday: Merry Christmas!
Happy holidays and Merry Christmas, dear Washingtonian.com readers! Need a place to dine on Christmas? We've got it. How about last-minute ideas for gifts? We've got 'em. A holiday cocktail party for just $75? We have that too. Consider these our gifts to you. Enjoy the holidays, and have a very happy New Year! (Oh yeah—we've got a New Year's Eve guide, too).
