Things to Do

Where & When: What to Do Tonight

Get answers to life's big questions— or just play with paint

Think sports drinks are just about refueling after a tough workout? Check out the artsy side to quenchers at the Fridge DC’s Liquid Soul event. Instead of quaffing Vitamin Water, artists will take it as their inspiration—and their medium in a live-painting demonstration. Even if they’re painting with it, you can try free samples of Vitamin Water as well as Bacardi cocktails, with music by DJ 2-Tone Jones as the backdrop. 7 PM; 21 and over. Free.

The Los Angeles experimental-rock group Autolux touches down at the Black Cat for a performance of tunes from its latest album, Transit Transit. And if you’ve got Tai Shan nostalgia, or just a taste for electronic distortion, Gold Panda’s playing as well. $15; 8 PM.

In the mood for something more serious? Need some clarity after the mind-scrambling August heat? Michael Kellogg drops by Politics and Prose to pose three big philosophical questions—What can I know? What may I hope? What ought I to do?—from his new book, Three Questions We Never Stop Asking. Free. 7 PM.
