Great Bars 2013: Iota Club & Café

An intimate music venue two doors down from always-packed Whitlow’s on Wilson, Iota offers a dozen draft beers and shows every night. It’s any-thing but fancy—exposed-brick walls are unadorned, light fixtures are missing—but the look of the place is a reminder that music is meant to be the draw. Acts and crowds vary greatly—singer/songwriters, punk bands, and folk groups might all make the schedule in the same week.

Stop by the cafe to choose from a rotating selection of 12 tap beers (growlers go for $19) and a menu of 25 sandwiches. Insider tip: A free Wednesday open-mike night attracts surprisingly good acts. Open daily.
