Photographer Evy Mages was in Charlottesville Saturday, intending to shoot pictures of the radical-right rally as part of a series of protest photography over the past year. But shortly after 1:30pm, she was at the corner of Fourth and Water Streets when a car plowed into a crowd of counter-protestors. “The atmosphere had shifted from tear gas and smoke in the streets to people reclaiming their city,” says Mages. “And then this complete act of terror happened.” Here’s what it looked like.
