Contact This Doctor

Dr. Maral Kibarian Skelsey is one of the most experienced and respected Dermatologists and Mohs Surgeons in the country. From her practice in Chevy Chase, MD, she cares for patients with a broad range of surgical and medical issues including melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancer, vitiligo, alopecia, nail disorders, birthmarks and scars. She is also a renown cosmetic dermatologist, helping patients to look their best and completely natural using the latest techniques and technology.

A native Washingtonian, Dr. Skelsey founded the Dermatologic Surgery Center of Washington in 2003 to offer the most advanced approaches for treatment, early detection and prevention of skin cancer, as well as all other dermatologic issues. Her center has grown significantly and today she leads a large and distinguished team of medical providers who have specialized expertise in cosmetic procedures, pediatric dermatology, acne, psoriasis, eczema, hair loss, and all other dermatologic issues. Entering its third decade of service, the Center is now treating the grandchildren of the first generation of patients as well as a large following from around the world.

Dr. Skelsey’s skill as a physician is complemented by her compassion for her patients. She is known for her commitment to healing the whole person – taking time to thoroughly review her patient’s history, discuss treatment options and answer any question. Her cross-disciplinary training in dermatology, pathology and reconstructive surgery allows her to carefully preserve natural appearance if surgery is the best option. She is a regular presenter of research at conferences nationally and internationally. Through her appointment as faculty at Georgetown University School of Medicine, she remains at the forefront of the latest science for all forms of skin cancer and other complex dermatologic conditions.
