“There’s nothing here,” says Dan Schiff, an office worker in Rockville.
When it comes to quality, quick-service, non-chain eateries, lunch options are few around the stretch of Fishers Lane where Schiff works. That’s why he e-mailed Sub Urban Bros.—one of the handful of food trucks roaming Montgomery County—and asked the mobile sandwich maker to stop by his complex. Now the stop is a regular part of the route for the Bros., who say they serve hundreds in the area.
The number of MoCo food trucks may never catch up to the District or Northern Virginia—truck owners cite costly commissary kitchen fees and a lack of foot traffic as deterrents—but that doesn’t mean they’re inferior in quality.
