Do the Paul Ryan-Touted P90X Workout for Free in DC

Tony Horton, creator of the popular workout, returns to Washington for an outdoor class.

By now we all know of congressman and vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan’s love for P90X, the high-intensity at-home fitness program. This Thursday, whether you’re a P90X newbie or a pro, you can get your butt kicked by the man who created the workout, Tony Horton.

Horton returns to Washington for the second time this year for a free workout at Yards Park Boardwalk (300 Water St., SE). His first session, in June, was also free, but, believe us, it’s no walk in the park.

During the workout, expect to perform a lot of the moves featured in a regular P90X workout, from various forms of pushups to 180-degree turning squats. It ends with a cooldown yoga session that focuses on breathing.

Participants should bring a yoga mat or beach towel and water. To register for the class, fill out the registration and waiver form at Results the Gym’s website and bring it to the class.

The class runs from 6 to 7:15 PM, but from past experience you should get there a few minutes early if you want to snag enough space.
