Great Bars 2013: McKeever’s Pub

Amid the high-end shops of McLean lies this
rough-around-the-edges Irish gem. Dark paneling, stuffed stag heads, and
vintage signs all hark back to the Green Isle, as do expertly poured pints
of Guinness (note the thick, creamy heads). Post up at the bar and try a
black-and-tan or a stiff serving of whiskey, best taken down with a plump
beef frank smothered in house-made chili. Insider tip: The unpretentious
scene means you’ll forget the nearby McMansions—until the tab arrives: Two
pints and a generous platter of nachos run close to $25. Open
daily.
