Art gets “All Mixed Up” at the Brentwood Arts Exchange (3901 Rhode Island Ave., Brentwood) The 2010 Prince George’s County Annual Juried Exhibition is a contemporary mixed-media showcase of local artists. Through November 27. Free.

See five of the “first ladies of modern dance” strut their stuff tonight at the Kennedy Center. Each performs solo, ranging from contemporary African dance to a depiction of the creation story. 7:30. Buy tickets ($35) here.

Hear Pulitzer Prize finalist and New Yorker music critic Alex Ross discuss everything from Bach to Dylan to the overall meaning of music. Ross reads selections from his latest book, Listen to This at Politics and Prose. 7 PM; free.
