Renwick Gallery’s Craft Invitational begins today and runs through July 31. The show, “History in the Making,” brings together the work of a renowned silversmith, furniture maker, glass artist, and ceramics artist to showcase the best of contemporary American craft. Free.

Photographer Darren Smith creates mosaics comprised of thousands of tiny pieces of his photographs. His work is featured in “Kaleidoscope” at tonight’s Art Soiree at L2 Lounge. Gal Costa has a career spanning four decades. The Brazilian singer was one of the leaders of the Tropicália movement in the ’60s. She’s performing at Lisner Auditorium at 8. Buy tickets ($50 to $55) at Ticketmaster.
