Grammy-nominated singer, songwriter, and spoken-word artist Carolyn Malachi will perform as part of the “Mingle at the Museum: Art and Soul of South Africa” event at the National Museum of African Art. You’ll also be able to explore the museum, in particular the exhibits in the Artists in Dialogue series, and munch on South African-inspired food. 6:30 to 9; call 202-633-3030 for tickets ($45 to $50).

On the brink of the National Cherry Blossom Festival , show your support for the people of Japan during a reflective walk around the Tidal Basin. Meet at the Sylvan Theater near the Washington Monument at 6:30; donations to the Red Cross will be accepted. No registration is required.
