The Oxford Gargoyles, a jazz a capella group from across the pond, is giving a free concert at Alexandria’s Morrison House hotel. After the hourlong show, stick around for dinner at the Grille and enjoy a free dessert. 5 to 6; no cover.

The Awesome Foundation DC is throwing a kick-off party at One Lounge. The group is dedicated to rewarding civic innovators and entrepreneurs who have ideas and plans to make the District more, well . . . awesome. Your ticket ($10 to $20) includes one free drink, plus there’ll be a cash bar and dancing. Buy tickets at EventBrite. 6 to 10.

Jaun de Marcos, founder of the famed Buena Vista Social Club, and his band, the Afro-Cuban All Stars, are playing at Strathmore. The band members, who range in age from 13 to 81, are united by their dedication to Latin-infused jazz. 8 PM; buy tickets ($25 to $52) at Strathmore’s Web site.
