Tuesday, January 5

If your basic omelet just doesn’t cut it anymore, consider enrolling in the “Incredible Edible Egg” cooking class at Zola Wine & Kitchen (505 Ninth St., NW). Participants will learn to use egg yolks to thicken sauces, create perfect truffle scrambles, and whip up a soufflé. The class, $50 per person, begins at 6:30. Fill your kitchen cabinets and your stomach by heading to the Ballston outpost of Rock Bottom Brewery (4238 Wilson Blvd.) for Pintastic Tuesdays. Between 11 AM and 1 AM, revelers can buy their favorite logo pint glass (with beer in it) for just $4.95. Refills cost $2 more.

Wednesday, January 6

Those looking to party the night away on a budget in Adams Morgan should consider starting at Eighteenth & Red (2436 18th St., NW), where, starting at 5:30, half-price wines are paired with $5 hamburgers . Cue Kool and the Gang’s “Ladies Night” and head to Midtown Loft, which offers women half-price drafts, bottled beer, and rail drinks from 5 until midnight.

Friday, January 8

Start the weekend by warming yourself at Black Ankle Vineyards’ (14463 Black Ankle Rd., Mount Airy) Fireside Friday, from 6 to 8:30. You can try samples of four different Syrahs ($5 tasting fee) while listening to live jazz music by a crackling fire. Up for a midday drink or ten? Scotch lovers should leave their keys at home and sign up for the single-malt-Scotch tasting at DC Coast. Participants will learn about the history and production of Scotch from beverage director Scott Clime, while tasting ten whiskeys and single malts. Sunday, January 10

Join Rom Weiland as he hosts “The Search for the Elusive Schnitzel,” a free talk at the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Regional Services Center (4805 Edgemoor La., Meeting Room A, Bethesda). Weiland, who has collected more than 1,500 schnitzel recipes, will explain the origins of the popular pounded-meat dish. The talk runs from 2:30 to 4:30. For more information, call 301-320-6979.
