Well, it happened.

The federal government has shut down DC offices in anticipation of a major slushfest. Washington bars and restaurants are reacting in the only appropriate way: with food and drink specials to lure you from the couch. Keep checking this list as new deals emerge throughout the day. And stay safe out there.

Al Dente

Up near American University, the bar at this trattoria will be serving half-price pizza and bombolini, $4 beers, and $5 wine and house cocktails all night. Deals begin at 4 PM.

BGR the Burger Joint

Fuel up on Bailey’s shakes and big ol’ burgers—BGR locations are open for business. At shops inside the District, all shakes are buy one, get one free.

Bread and Brew

Look for a Cuban sandwich and a Roseda Farms Angus-beef patty melt served with hand-cut fries, both $11 at this downtown eatery. Happy hours starts at 4 PM in the bar with half price on all drinks.

Cafe Deluxe

Happy hour goes all day at all locations.

Casa Oaxaca

The Adams Morgan mole spot is open and doing its usual Wednesday deal—half price on all Mexican wines.

Cava Mezze

$3 mini gyros and lamb sliders are currently on offer at the Clarendon location.

Crumbs Bake Shop

Little known fact: March 6 marks the 101st birthday of the Oreo. Should you wish to celebrate, local locations of Crumbs (currently open) are offering a cookies-and-cream cupcake.

Dino


All night at this Cleveland Park favorite, wines over $50 are 33 percent off. There’s also a $5 happy hour cocktail special and $3 off wines by the class, cocktails, beer, and antipasti.

DGS Delicatessen

The new Dupont spot for Montreal-style bagels and killer knishes will be doing half-price bottles of wine all day Wednesday.

Granville Moore’s

Head to this homey H Street spot for mussels and fries, Belgian brews, and sandwiches. It opens at noon.

Jaleo, Oyamel, and Zaytinya

José Andrés’s restaurants brave the snow with normal hours Wednesday.

Masa 14

The 14th Street hotspot will also offer happy hour all night long.

Mussel Bar

Robert Wiedmaier’s
Bethesda beer-and-oyster spot is offering all-day happy hour on
Wednesday. Look out for $1 oysters, $2 cans, and $5.50 rail drinks and
draft deals.

Range

Consider the snow day your chance to sample the newly debuted lunch menu at this Bryan Voltaggio restaurant in the Chevy Chase Pavilion.

Scion Restaurant

Deals at this Dupont spot include half-price draft beers, $5 wines, and $4 rail drinks. Happy hour goes all night.


Sushiko Chevy Chase

The sushi restaurant is offering happy hour specials all day and evening in the bar area.

TaKorean

Head to Union Market for a $7 lunch special on three tacos.

Tortilla Coast

Margarita time? Both the Logan Circle and Capitol Hill restaurants are offering happy hour all day on Wednesday.


Z-Burger Tenleytown

Should the Washington area receive five inches of snow by 5 PM, burgers will go for just five cents.
