Sunday’s Partial Solar Eclipse, as Seen From Alexandria (Video)

The cosmic ballet goes on.

While most people were sleeping (or walking off late-Halloween parties) on Sunday morning, early risers got quite the show at dawn with a partial solar eclipse. For about half an hour, the sun was partly blocked by the moon’s trajectory, offering some stunning images of the morning sky across the Washington area. Steve Ellington, a filmmaker in Alexandria, shot a time-lapse video of the eclipse that is so arresting, you’ll forget you’re angry at the sun about the end of daylight saving time.
