This week, as the tragedy in Tucson resonated across the country, many members of Congress paid tribute to their colleague Representative Gabrielle Giffords. Below, we’ve catalogued a few of their responses to the shooting. Elsewhere in Washington, Sarah Palin causes her usual media frenzy, characters from Real Housewives scratch at each other’s throats, and Top Chef contestants make lunch plans.

Ezra Klein: @ezraklein Post about Sarah Palin: 215 comments (and counting). Post about Mitch McConnell and Senate polarization: 5 comments. #marketresearch

We guess it goes to show—having a TLC reality show makes you more relevant than holding an elected office.

Mike Isabella: @MikeIsabellaDC @chefspike r u around today, I will be in your area this afternoon, I’ll stop by.

Did they not have the chance to exchange numbers during Top Chef: All Stars?

Catherine Ommanney: @catommanney Hilarious reviews on Amazon for inbox full. A bit like me. Love me or hate me! Think Barbie and Plump Ken have done one too! lol

Think Mattel will start marketing a Salahi line anytime soon?

Senator John McCain: @SenJohnMcCain Cutting my official trip to Latin America short to attend tonight’s memorial service @UofA

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi: @NancyPelosi Was a blessing to be with @Rep_Giffords as she opened her eyes for 1st time-big step towards healing, as was President’s speech in Tucson.

Representative Michele Bachmann: @MicheleBachmann Rep. Giffords and all victims in today’s shooting are in my prayers. Those responsible must be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Senator Claire McCaskill: @clairecmc I feel sick to my stomach. Praying.

Representative Jason Chaffetz: @jasoninthehouse The hallmark of our country is vigorous and vibrant debate, but that can never justify violence.
