Part Beat Generation coffeehouse, part 21st-century lounge, these neighborhoody places are forums for indie films, poetry readings, and open-mike nights. They’re also more about the scene than the food. Still, there are some reliable offerings: deftly spiced Moroccan lentil soup, a juicy, oversize burger, and grilled catfish.
