Adams Morgan
Ethiopian
This Adams Morgan mainstay—for 30 years known as Zenebech—offers exceptional versions of Ethiopian classics. Both the shiro, a chickpea purée, and the ater, yellow split peas simmered in turmeric and garlic, are worth repeat drags with pieces of housemade injera. Ditto the alicha doro wat, a chicken stew with a spiced butter-and-onion sauce. The mehaberawi, a choose-your-own-adventure platter with four meats and four veggies, is extraordinarily reasonable at $35 and serves two with ample leftovers.
