Clothes That Work: Debra Lee

Seven women who always look professional talk about dressing for success—where they shop, what they’re buying, and outfits that go from office to cocktails

Lee plans to wear more skirts and dresses this spring, including a Prada cinched-waist drewss. It’s $1,945 at Neiman Marcus, Tysons. The necklace is by Lanvin, the watch by Cartier. Photograph by Matthew Worden.

Chair and CEO, Black Entertainment Television

What she wears to work: “I try to find things that are indicative of trends but won’t go out of style. For spring I’ll be wearing more dresses and skirts, and I’m excited about colors like orange and red. Prada has some fabulous cinched-waist dresses.”

Her power suits: “I like Escada, and Peggy Jennings makes nice feminine suits that I can wear into evening—she does cocktail dresses under jackets.”

Seeing spots: “I have a leopard-print bag by Yves Saint Laurent that takes me from fall to summer. It’s a good thing I work in the entertainment industry so I can be a little on the flashier side.”

Favorite store: “Saks Jandel. They have great service.”

What she splurges on: “Bold jewelry from Cartier, Bulgari, and I. Gorman.”
