Dream Weekends 2005: Inn at Perry Cabin

This waterside inn, with its sprawling lawn with Adirondack chairs, has an elegant yacht-club feel.

An expansion added 41 nautical-chic suites, many with upholstered sleigh beds, delft-tiled fireplaces, mahogany flooring, cashmere throws, and TVs that rise out of a seaman’s trunk. The 40 original rooms are decorated in antiques.

Relax alongside the horizon-edge pool tucked into a garden; browse the library’s antique books; or borrow a bike for exploring charming St. Michaels. Clipping shears and a vase are available if you feel the urge to cut your own fresh blooms.

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served in the romantic restaurant, Sherwood’s Landing. Among its signature dishes: crab spring rolls and glazed lamb shank.

Bottom line: A luxurious place for water lovers to spend a special occasion.

Inn at Perry Cabin, 800-722-2949; perrycabin.com. Original inn rooms for two start at $330, newer suites from $580 a night.
