Welcome to your daily dose of inauguration news! Every morning through January 20, we'll give you our top morning reads on the latest buzz around the upcoming inauguration.
The Washington Bladereported yesterday that Barack Obama has named seven openly-gay people to his transition team—three of which were high-up in the Clinton administration.
In the face of a petition signed by more than 3,000 people, the Montgomery County School Board is considering a resolution to declare January 20, Inauguration Day, a school holiday. With Martin Luther King Day the day before, that would give the kids in the district a four-day weekend. Montgomery County is one of the few large districts in the area that hasn't already declared January 20 a holiday.
Delaware's governor and lieutenant-governor elects will take the oath of office on January 20 at 12 AM—yes, at midnight. They want to avoid overlap with Obama's swearing-in and allow people to celebrate both.
Adding to the madness that will be the millions coming to Washington for the inauguration, the Congressional Youth Leadership Conference, a group comprised of young scholars from every state, will be bringing 15,000 youngsters to DC for educational workshops during the inauguration weekend.
