Monday, March 9
Chef Roberto Donna hosts a hands-on cooking class focusing on famous Italian sauces at his Bebo Trattoria (2250-B Crystal Dr., Arlington). The class, which starts at 6:30, costs $110 per person and includes an apron, recipes, and dinner with wine. Call 703-412-5077 for reservations.

Tuesday, March 10

Pizza-and-beer spot Rustico (827 Slaters La., Alexandria) is hosting March Madness, a glassware giveaway and preview tasting of five cask ales. The tasting runs from 6 to 10, and the beers cost between $8 and $10 per pint. For more information, call 703-224-5051.

Wednesday, March 11
The National Cherry Blossom Festival presents its third annual Pink Tie Fundraiser. It’ll be hosted by Art and Soul chef Art Smith at the Metropolitan Ballroom in the Liaison Capitol Hill (415 New Jersey Ave., NW). Partygoers can sample “cherry picks,” the special dishes and cocktails that restaurants have created in honor of the festival. Fyve restaurant is doing a foie-gras-and-cherry parfait with foie-gras mousse and cherry marmalade; TenPenh has created ahi-tuna sashimi and hamachi tartare with cherry/ponzu vinaigrette and seaweed salad; the Source will serve a cherry-infused Champagne cocktail and amuse-bouche. The Arlington branch of Rocklands Barbeque and Grilling Company (3471 Washington Blvd.) hosts a four-course Brew & ’Cue dinner. The menu includes arugula salad with grilled shrimp and horseradish-mango chutney; barbecue baby-back ribs with beet greens, honey-jalapeño cornbread, and corn pudding; barbecue pig with potato salad, baked beans, and a potato roll; and a chocolate brownie with fudge sauce. Thursday, March 12
There will be a five-course Belgian beer dinner with wine/beer expert Robert McFarlane at Willow (4301 N. Fairfax Dr., Arlington). Dinner starts at 6:45 and costs $65 per person. Call 703-465-8800 for reservations.

Saturday, March 14
The Slow Food on Film festival brings two food-related films—Cows Are Nice from Sweden and Mr. Bené Goes to Italy from Brazil—to the Phillips Collection (1600 21st St., NW). The screenings, which begin at 1, are free with museum admission.

Chef James Muir holds a one-pot cooking class and lunch at Rosa Mexicano (575 Seventh St., NW). He’ll demonstrate how to make red pozole with beef ribs and hominy, spicy seafood stew, and stewed winter fruits with vanilla ice cream. Chef Jacques Haeringer teaches a spring-themed demonstration class and lunch with wine at L’Auberge Chez François (332 Springvale Rd., Great Falls). The menu includes olive-oil-poached salmon with cauliflower purée; braised short ribs with horseradish; grapefruit tart with grapefruit mousse; spring salad; and blood-orange sorbet.
