The “music in pictures” theme of 2009’s NoMa Summer Screen series means that the weekly free movie screenings held in the lot adjacent to the New York Avenue Metro station will be sure to get your body moving. This week, experience the peculiar musical evolution of Bob Dylan with Martin Scorsese’s No Direction Home. Bring a well-stocked cooler and comfy lawn chairs to make the evening more enjoyable. 7 PM.
Thursday, June 11th:
Get out of the office and stretch your legs at Woodrow Wilson Plaza with free lunchtime concerts. Recall impromptu a cappella sessions of your college days with the music of Reverb from noon to 1:30. The plaza is located at 1300 Pennsylvania Avenue, Northwest.

Feeling patriotic? Reserve a spot for the 8:45 PM Marine Corps Evening Parade. This 75-minute performance of music and precision marching is an excellent post-dinner activity for visiting veteran grandparents and kids with big military dreams. Although the event is free, guests arriving after 8 PM are not guaranteed seating, so make sure to get to the Marine Barracks (Eighth and I sts., SE) on time. Saturday, June 13th:
It’s Capital Pride week in Washington, and the annual gay-pride parade is occurring from 6:30 to 8:30 PM. We recommend nabbing a spot by the reviewing stand on P Street between 14th and 15th streets for deejay entertainment and a good view of the floats.
