After months of ab crunches, studying current events, and rehearsing the elbow-elbow-wrist-wrist wave, 13 contestants competed last night for the title of Miss DC. The event went down without any hair pulling, tripping on stage, or fumbling, politically-charged statements about gay marriage (sorry, Perez). Instead, contestants answered questions such as “Where do you stand on DC statehood?” and “What’s your idea of a perfect DC date night?” Talents ranged from tap dance to piano to opera, opera and more opera (four contestants performed opera arias). There was also your standard evening wear strut and obligatory opening number in bikini tops and leather jackets. And to all the guys out there, yes, there was a swimsuit competition. American University student Jennifer Corey ultimately took the crown and will go on to compete in the Miss America pageant in January. Take a look at all the glitz and glam in the video below.
The Winners Miss DC: Jennifer Corey, American University 1st Runner up: Stephanie Williams, George Washington University 2nd Runner up: Randi Levendusky, Susquehanna University 3rd Runner up: Sophia Davis, Miami University 4th Runner up: Ashton Kunkle, Earlham College
