Tempting Fall Hotel Packages

Washington-area hotels are offering all kinds of packages to help you get autumn off on the right foot. Here are some of our favorites.


Inn at 202 Dover
Stay any two nights during the month of October, and you can swing some irons at Hog Neck Golf Course on the house. Play 18 holes at this 255-acre course in Easton, Maryland, and the inn will pack a free boxed lunch to take along—typically a sliced-steak sandwich, cheese, fruit, and soft drink; it can also accommodate vegetarians. Inn at Westwood Farm
How about spending a week digging for historical artifacts at James Madison’s Montpelier? The Inn at Westwood Farm is offering a Dig in Style package, which includes a five-night stay with meals, a $90 gift bag, and a real archaeological-dig experience. Work alongside Montpelier’s PhD archaeologists as you hunt for oddments from the 18th century. The package is available September 14 through 18. A single-room package is $1,530, a double $2,595. Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants
Every fall, oenophiles gather at the Fall Wine Festival & Sunset Tour, put on every year by George Washington’s Mount Vernon Estate & Gardens. Consider this deal: Three Kimpton hotels are offering a Fall Wine Festival package, which includes an overnight stay for two at one of their Old Town hotels, two tickets to the Mount Vernon festival, and a free fruit-and-cheese box. Available October 1 through 4, the package starts at $239 at Lorien Hotel & Spa, $259 at Hotel Monaco Alexandria, and $289 at Morrison House. Reservations must be paid for seven days in advance. Lansdowne Resort
Take a drive and enjoy the season’s colors at Lansdowne Resort, near Leesburg. This luxury resort is hosting a fall dinner concert series titled Autumn Rendezvous: Hit the Road With Jack. The event will feature dinner and dancing, with music provided by the Jack Diamond-Jim Steed Band. Lansdowne executive chef Wes Rosati will helm the kitchen and make the appropriate wine selections. Available October 9 and 23 and November 13. Rates start at $239, based on double-occupancy, and include a one-night stay, dinner, concert, and dancing. Liaison Capitol Hill
Cozy up in your pajamas at the Liaison Capitol Hill. Starting in October, the Liaison will launch their Comfort Package, which includes one pair of Lands' End cotton pajamas, two single-serving containers of Ben & Jerry's ice cream, breakfast for two, and a late check-out time. For every package booked, the Liaison will donate $10 to Common Ground, a non-profit organization that combats homelessness. The package is available October 1 through March 31, 2010. Park Hyatt Washington
This downtown DC hotel—two blocks north of Washington Circle—is offering its American Harvest package. Guests will stay in a Park Deluxe room, furnished with a private bar and flat-screen television; valet parking is available. You’ll also enjoy one of Blue Duck Tavern’s apple pies—the dessert was named one of the top 25 dishes of 2006 by USA Today—and seasonal beverages, all free. Available October 1 through November 29. Tides Inn
Grab a friend, ladies. This resort in Virginia’s Northern Neck is offering a Women Wild About Wine October package, which includes a two-night stay for any weekend in October. When you make a reservation for any Friday and Saturday, you’ll enjoy a suite, daily breakfast, a bottle of wine, and two Women Wild About Wine T-shirts. Spend your afternoons wandering through four nearby vineyards: Athena, Belle Mount, Ingleside, and White Fences. Or pamper yourself and take advantage of the package’s two manicures and pedicures, also included in the price.
