The Cupcake Cup: CakeLove vs. Bakeshop

Help us vote for the best cupcake in Washington.

Yesterday's showdown between Curbside Cupcakes and Cupcakes Actually ended in a photo finish—the cupcakeries were tied with minutes left in the vote!—but Curbside came out on top. And don't forget that there are still a few hours left to get your votes in for the Georgetown Cupcake and Best Buns face-off. That poll will close at 2. Good luck to our contenders!

CakeLove: Love 'em or hate 'em (the cupcakes seem to inspire more divisiveness than politics—a rarity in DC), you have to admit that CakeLove is the granddaddy of all cupcake shops in the area. The U Street, Northwest, location has been open since 2002, and the company has expanded to several more locations since.

Bakeshop: For a long time, the only way you could get Bakeshop cupcakes was to swing by the (now defunct) Murky Coffee in Arlington or to order from the baker's Web site. Now, Bakeshop has its own store in Clarendon, and you can order everything from red velvet to cookies 'n' cream cupcakes with abandon.

This poll will stay open until 10 AM on Friday.

*To help keep this contest fair, we've elected to use an IP address-based poll. This means that if you are voting from an office or network setting, not everybody will be able to vote. We apologize for the inconvenience, but we hope you'll encourage coworkers to vote from their home computers.
