The Normandy is one of three Washington hotels operated by the Doyle Collection, a luxury European brand out of Dublin. Of the three, this is the smallest and least formal. It’s a block off the beaten path of Connecticut Avenue and is surrounded by townhouses and embassies on quiet Wyoming Avenue.
The canopy entrance is set below sidewalk level. The main lobby and downstairs areas are modern European, with a peacock color scheme.
Although the lobby and hallways seem dark, the rooms are very bright, with good views of Wyoming Avenue. There isn’t a restaurant but there is a breakfast lounge, with continental breakfast for $13.95.
All of the 75 rooms are of the same tier—guests just choose the bed type: king, queen, or double. All rooms come with showers; bathtubs are available upon request. Every room does come with an espresso maker.
Insider tip: If you’d like breakfast included, choose the “breakfast rate” when booking. It’s a few dollars more, but cheaper than paying for the continental breakfast once you arrive.
