Washington Court Hotel— Capitol Hill

In the cluster of Capitol Hill hotels, Washington Court has two distinguishing qualities. First, it has the only uninterrupted view of the Capitol building, from rooms on the 12th through the 16th floor. Second, its rooms are some of the largest on the block, with a standard room at 375 square feet.

This mid-sized business hotel is a block from Union Station and three blocks from the Capitol. True to its name, its main level is courtyard-like with a large, terraced walkway proceeding from the entrance. An indoor waterfall in the atrium provides some background noise and a breeze. For its business clientele, the hotel offers a Road Warrior Package with free room Internet and a $25 food credit.

The rooms, renovated in 2009, are accented in a contemporary and tranquil orange-and-brown palette. They also include an iHome dock and a marble bathroom. For that Capitol view, Washington Court suggests paying a $25 room guarantee. Although guests could end up in a view room without the fee if the rooms aren’t booked, they do fill up quickly.
