DC Shorts, a rooftop happy hour, a free concert, and more this week.

Monday: Rock On
The Black Cat hosts an indie-rock concert with Love Language from Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Lead singer Stuart McLamb formed the band in 2007 with six of his closest friends, and they’ve already released two albums. Tickets are $10, and the show starts at 9. Pree also performs. Tuesday: DC Shorts

The DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities kicks off its Summer Screenings series with the DC Shorts Film Festival. Every Tuesday night through August 24, independent films are shown from 7 to 10 at the Renaissance Dupont Circle Hotel. Come early—seating in the intimate theater is on a first-come, first-served basis. Specialty cocktails and snacks are available. Free. Go here for more details.

Wednesday: Rooftop Happy Hour
Public Bar near DC’s Dupont Circle hosts Sky at Five, an extended rooftop happy hour from 5 to 11. There’s free beer for the first 100 people, and specials include $2 Coors Light, $3 Blue Moons, and $4 Absolut and Malibu drinks. $5 cover charge. More details are here.

Thursday: Concert in the Square
Rockville Town Square hosts its Concert in the Square series every Thursday night featuring some of local musicians. Tonight enjoy blues tunes with Lil’ Cliff and the Cliffhangers, performing from 6 to 8. Bring a blanket or lawn chair for this free outdoor concert. Click here to see the concert schedule.
