The International Club of DC is teaming up with chocolatiers from ACKC to present an evening of chocolate-and-wine pairings. The event, an eight-course tasting menu with Champagne, features chocolates from around the world paired with wines to bring out the full flavors of the desserts. $49; 6:45.

Justine Kenin, who narrated the story of five-year-old twin sisters who learned about gardening in an urban setting in the book We Grew It—Let’s Eat It!, is signing copies at the White House farmers market (Vermont Ave., NW, between H and I streets). The book, which is mostly pictures, is meant for three-to-eight-year-olds and includes recipes. $15. 4:30 to 5:30.
Join Laura Catena from the Argentinian Catena wine family and Wasington Post wine critic David McIntyre at Smithsonian American History Museum for a discussion on the evolution of the Argentinian wine industry and the impact it’s had on the United States wine market. 6 PM. Head to Culinaerie tonight for a couples cooking class that teaches students to prepare a three-course meal: spinach salad with goat cheese, hazelnuts, and orange vinaigrette; chicken with mushrooms and tarragon; and lemon pound cake with whipped cream. $175 per couple; 7 PM.
Saturday, September 11
At the Cooking as Art pavilion at the Arts on Foot Festival (F St. between Sixth and Ninth sts., NW), chefs from restaurants such as Café Atlántico, Bibiana, Potenza, the Source, and Charlie Palmer Steak will conduct cooking demonstrations from 11:15 to 5:45. Other neighborhood restaurants will sell small plates, priced from $1 to $5.
Sunday, September 12
TasteDC is hosting a daylong primer on chocolate, from its history to a hands-on chocolate-making session, at Chocolaterie Wanders Facility in Manassas. The $115 fee covers the class, materials, and a catered lunch. At the end of the day, you’ll go home with recipes as well as a Wanders Chocolates gift bag. 9 to 4. For more details, click here.
